Hey,

Took out my strut/shock assembly, replacing the stock struts with tokico blues but keeping the same springs. My problem is I've got the spring compressors off and the spring can almost pull off, where I get snagged is the damn dust cover thing. It won't come off and the spring cannot slide off over it. Has anyone else had this problem? I've tried everything I can think of to remove it, maybe I'm missing something. I'm about to just cut the rod with a torch so I can get the spring off.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

spray it with pb blast. Its corroded on.

Thanks man, I don't know why I didn't think of something this simple. The book didnt really say anything about it. Gonna try this as soon as I get my cams back in and oil pan on.

Yeah, the dust cover should slide right off. Blaster should solve your problem. Hit it before you got to bed some night and again in the morning. It'll slide off by the afternoon.

You're gonna love the Blues. I run with them. I'd suggest getting lowering springs while you have it apart though. You can find some on the board I'm sure and you'll be much happier with the performance.

Yea I would definitely get lowering springs but in my area (RI) the roads are terrible whether its winter or summer, the cities don't really
care about pot holes and I know I'd destroy my ground effects or mess up my radiator within a week if I had them.

I still havent been able to get the metal cover off, ended up setting the boot on fire by accident because I was trying to heat up the cover. I just put my engine back in so once everything is hooked up and I make sure it runs I'm gonna have to cut the strut and slide off the spring so I can go at it with the heat more accurately.
