Ok, I searched for this but got nothing. When I assemble the shock and spring assembly stuff, it all goes fine, except the spring doesn't go on the upper spring pad right, and it doesn't seat properly against the strut either. I'm assuming that with enough pressure they will 'pop' into place, but how much pressure do i have to apply? and does it have to be seated properly before it goes on the car?

also, in the Chilton manual, it shows the 'Upper Bracket Assembly' and the 'Upper Spring Pad' coming apart into two pieces... but mine don't do that... what's up with that? I guess they would probably pry apart, but in the manual it shows the Upper Bracket Assembly just lifting off of the spring pad.

I'm freakin out about every little thing I know, but my cars been down for SEVERAL months and I'm ready to get it done... so I don't want to mess anything up.

Ok your saying the mount on top (metal mount) # 40418 wont come apart from the rubber "spring Pad" # 40146, correct? The spring doesnt seat correctly on the rubber spring pad # 40146?

If that is the case, the rubber spring bushing or pad is probably worn out form age and has formed to the way the factory spring sat. Order a new set online, they are only 8.00.

Don't worry about it.

Just get the springs seated in there as best possible at the bottom of the strut and don't even worry about that piece of junk foam at the top.

Ok, after I posted that I went back to the garage to try again, and I put the other side down on there first then used pliars to pop the other side in right. It's all on correctly now... It'll be ok and I don't need to order new ones, do I?

lol exactly. Mine didn't fit right either, but I lined them up best I could, lowered the car after it was all done and the springs pressed right into the right spot. Love my new suspension :)

I'm assuming you did the rear camber mod as well, right?

..... did you mean the spring didn't fit on the colar of the strut, or it didn't seat into the rubber bushing at the top... If it didn't seat onto the colar of the strut, you might have put either a rear spring on a front strut or vice versa... please clalify...

I used Tokico Illuminas, great ride quality, and yeah I did the 15 dollar camber mod (more like 2 dollar since I work at a hardware store ;-) ) But the alignment guys were dicks about it saying they would only do another alignment (1 month guarantee from the one I did before the camber mod) if the suspension was 'knocked' outta whack somehow, not if it was modified (i.e. camber shims).... so I'm gonna wait a few weeks and then take it over there and tell then i hit a curb or sumthin, lol.
