I'm planning on selling my car this summer and it's already equipped with tein super streets but I really dont want to sell the car with them. Ideally, I would like to sell the car with some sort of lowering spring/strut combo but im not looking forward to emptying my wallet on something. Does anybody have any ideas? Im looking at some of the cheaper spring sets on ebay but im a little worried about quality...hmmmm so many options

Strut/shock wise you can't go wrong with a set of Tokico HP blues. Affordable, and a great performer for the price. I would just try to find the cheapest springs of a reputable company that you know will not have any issues.

I got the tokico springs that come with the AHS for sale if you want. I don't have the struts tho

Sorry, im not ready to buy anything now. I have to wait until the semester is over with...besides, the longer I wait to buy them, the more research I will be able to do before I can make an educated purchase. Thanks for the offer though!

if you want to sell the car dave, why not just pick up a stock set of shocks from a parts store and install a set of H&R, Tien, Eibach springs off ebay. That would be the eisiest i would think.

Can you do that? I thought lowering springs on a stock shock was bad....unless operating a stock shock at a set height for a given amount of time and then installing lowering springs is what kills them. Oh and dont fret people, my next car is going to be another eclipse, hence, why im keeping my teins.

IF you buy a new shock/strut it wont fail for some time. Mostof the failure stories are shocks with 70k + on them. Old shock is less tolerant to a lowered height.

not a good idea IMO.
the reason why they fail at 70K is thats when most people drop their cars, Ive heard enough stories of guys with new stockers blowing out to know that is a bad idea. All it takes is one good slam to destroy the valving and the new shocks are gone.

But Im sure you can find stock shocks and stock springs from a member to put it back together correctly.

I would like to have a mild drop on the car because it has a body kit on it and even though it looks rediculous now, just think of what it would look like with the "OEM 4x4 look"

I still dont follow what you are saying, Mcgyvr. Is the shock body on OEM schocks too long for lowering springs? Is the valve body length on aftermarket shocks specifically designed for use with lowering springs?

yes the stock shock is too long and what happens is you hit a bump and it crushes/breaks the valving at the bottom of the shock.
hence destroying the shock.

Oh, I see. Well, I dont mind spending the extra cash for aftermarket equipment anyway. And, when I do end up selling the car this summer, the ricer who buys it can tell all of his friends about the wicked awesome JDM full race suspension on his car. :shrug
