28938, Replace lower control arm, torqure specs, one last question. Posted by nonamerat, Mar-13-06 12:09 PM
Okay, sorry about all the posts but this should be my last question. When putting in a new lower control arm, the one with the ball joint, do I have to do anything special such as using another jack to push up the suspension before I torque all the bolts. Also, what are the torqure specs for the two bolts on the lower control arm, the far back one that goes through a bushing, and the nut that goes on top of the ball joint. Oh, one last thing, how do I keep the ball joint from rotating when tighting the nut on top, I notice its tapered so should I shove the bolt end into the hole so it wont rotate? I hope that makes sence, I suck at explaining things. Thanks a ton.

I just replaced mine, and in order to tighten the nut and stop the ball joint from rotating, i needed to put pressure on it. A jack did not work, so I used a C clamp which did the trick. It took quite a few tries to do it. Good luck!
