28478, rubbing in driver's side wheel well when turning
Posted by hazardeclipse, Jan-05-06 02:33 AM
this started monday. it sounds like a suspension component is rubbing against another one, but i tried having someone turn the wheel and couldn't see anything. Also on monday i got it up in the air, and inspected everything<\b> (swaybar, upper and lower ball joints, brakes, driveshaft, both cv joints, etc) and couldn't find anything wrong. When i got it back on the ground, the noise was gone... until the drive home the next day. I think it's possible that it's the power steering, sometimes in the mornings it's a bitch to steer turning around in my driveway. Anyone have any experience with power steering? im running stock 14"s so it can't be the tire, right? This is kinda pissing me off.

rubbing or whinning?

Have you had the ball joint recall performed?

Nah, brakes are fine... As it turns out, after talking some people and checking it out, i think my upper ball joint is completely dry. My parts guy can get me the uppers for $20 a piece... those have to be pressed in, right?

No entire control arm gets replaced.

bah. that sucks... I have to replace the lowers on that side to, then, because of my "transmission problems" that i had, i had those lower ball joints seperated to change that tranny seal every other week, and tore those boots with the seperator fork. Satan already replaced that shit for free once, so it looks like im going to have to bite the bullet on this one. Ain't life grand...
