in chasis fab im going to be working on a new front crossmember and underbody brace for the front suspension. this will be rigid as hell and will not only protect the engine and oil pan, considerably stiffen up the chasis but will clear the 2.4L oil pan if you want to do a swap and/or keep the balance shafts. if anything, you'll just be able to have a larger oil pan and less fabrication. ill be making it out of chromoly steel as a project and will be professionally welded and will fit perfect.

if anyone is interested, i can make a jig and make a few if anyone wants one let me know. PM me.

That sounds pretty cool, Josh. Another idea that might be cool would be to put an aluminum aero plate under it that would smooth airflow at speed. You could put a couple extractor vents in it help pull air through the FMIC/radiator and backside of the engine to lower intake mani temps a hair. :shrug

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't an extractor under the car cause some amount of lift?

I'm a novice listen to what I say and make your own conclusion.

I'm very interested as well. Keeping the PT cruiser oil pan would be ideal for me (vs. fabrication of my own...).

I actually wanted to make a tubular one when I had that giant clunky stock one out... could probably save around 10-15 pounds if you used better material, and our cars are extremely nose-heavy, so every pound off the front end counts.

Yes that woulod be good to shave some weight off the front end but if you take too much off, you will have issues keeping traction. Just my two cents...

i dont think so. if u make it so everything points down itll act like a spoiler at high speeds. most of us wont get to those speeds, so all it is is just goin to be drag

if any air is being drawn from the grill and is being directed under the car, then yes, it will create a little lift. Just smoothing the underside without any extractor vents will, however, increase downforce because it will increase the speed of the air flowing under the car.

anyone have any good pictures of the inside of a 2gnt without any carpet or interior panels? im making a roll cage and id like to see what im working with and get some ideas for my mount plates.

close ups of the pinch welds on the rocker panels would definately help as well.

mines stripped.. i could get some this week when i get over the shop.
