28318, struts to long?? Posted by selmerguy2003, Nov-16-05 04:49 PM
i have cheap ebay coilovers and kyb gr2 struts. the installation instructions on the coilovers sucked and i don't know a lot about suspension. my problem is that my front struts poke through and dent my hood. why does this happen. i really don't care about this hood but i kinda want to fix this problem. thanks sam

they don't look like they collapsed. and i will take pics as soon as it warms up a little here. let me try to describe the set up. on the strut i have the yellow colored bumpstomp cut in half. then i have the the rubber blue disk that came with the coilovers. then the black rubber stop with silver tube. then pillowbar and top rubber stop. when i look at the strut after the car has been driven the yellow bump stop is at the bottom of the strut. is this right. i thought it should stay at above the washer thing on the strut pole.

well i figured out the problem and now i have another problem. first the solution was i had to take the bottom rubber stopper out and use the disk with the coilovers.
now the problem is that the bolt that goes through the fork which is attached to a metal bar spring is stripped.(sorry for the 1st grade verbage but i don't know what part it is) it has a rubber hood on one end and a bolt on the other. what part is this and how do i get another one?

i think your talking about the sway bar link . a lot of people have problems with that stripping . if you do a search you should find your answer . i bought a new nut for mine . i dont remember what size tho .

It is an M-10 nut
I just did new Tokico Illuminas w/ Tein S-Tech springs, and had some problems with the end link as well and had to replace the nut. If you have issues getting it off/on still, I belive autozone can order you a new end link for fairly cheap.
