Just make sure you do it with your wheels off!!
Naw its pretty easy. I used the 5 dollar caliper paint at Pep Boys, i used the red, and it looks really goood. Just put lots of coats on, you should only need about 2 cans. Theres plenty of paint in there. Let the paint dry good too. I took off the brake pads, that i way i didnt paint them, but just make sure cover and tape everything really good. AND TAKE YOUR TIME.

yeah, you gotta mask everything off...its not hard at all... you could also go buy good ole Rustoleum paint

fuck the folia tec kit, i used duplicolor hi heat ceramic paint from auto zone and it came out really vivid. several coats, then krylon clear...there are a few pics on my site if you wanna look

I recommend the VHT or Plastikote brake caliper paints over any other hardware-store solution. Reason being these paints are specificially engineered for this application. They will not dissolve off with brake fluid (which will strip off most kinds of paint). Also, they are formulated to have high durability to handle rock impacts without chipping. I have seen several reports of bbq and standard hi-temp paint flaking off and requiring reapplication.

As always when painting things, surface preparation is the key. Make sure you get everything very clean or you will have problems down the line. I sanded the surface material and casting flash off my front calipers with a dremel before applying the VHT spray. The results look great, and I have not noticed any degredation in the surface.

Note that if you plan on racing your car in time trials or open track days, expect to have problems if you make the wrong choice. Some supposedly hi-temp coloured paints will darken or brown when exposed to the sustained high temperatures encountered at the track. I have seen several reports of paint actually catching fire too. Not worth the risk if you ask me. AutoXing or drag racing generally don't make your brakes hot enough to worry about. Its repeated 110+mph to 40mph braking zones into tight corners that really tax the system. For purely street/crusing use, I suppose the generic solutions would be ok. IMO, I'd just stay with the special paints to keep my mind at ease.
