I read the diy on installing these shocks but i was really wondering how hard it was to do an install, part of the reason i ask is because i pretty much have no experience with doing any suspension mods. Is there anything i should be worried about, looking for, etc. Any help would be appreciated, i plan on doing the install on friday with a friend or two. I'm not sure if i should spend $200 to get it done professionally or trust myself to do this...

Are you installing lowering springs? If you will be using the stock springs you will need a spring compressor; this can be rented from autozone if you dont have one.

If your installing lowering springs then its not a bad job to do. start with the rears. If you have a hard time with the rears then you should take the fronts to a shop. The rears are the easiest, the fronts are a tad bit more cumbersome.

no you will not

I would set aside Friday night and Saturday morning if this is your first strut install. The second and third times will fly by in 2-3 hours. I think there is a steep learning curve in the beginning. And at $200, there is probably nothing "professional" happening to your car. I paid $150 the first time. They overtorqued all of the bolts and damaged a strut. I spent a few hours fixing their mistakes in the months following. The next time, I just did it myself and was much happier with the workmanship.

Do it yourself. It took me about 6 hours for the fronts and 3 for the back for my Tokico HP's. I followed Corbin's writeup. I'm sure if I had to do it again I could do it in under 5.
