27981, Brake issues...help/ideas?? Posted by xcasbonx, Sep-21-05 04:23 PM
Just got the car running again, and my brakes don't work for shit. I've bled the entire system twice now, starting from right rear, left rear, right front, left front. I've gotten as far as I can tell all the air out of the lines. I did have to replace a brake booster for the car, installation was no problem and the booster appears to be in normal working condition.
When I try to brake while driving I hardly get ANY pedal pressure at all and have to pump them atleast 3 or 4 times to get barely enough pressure to stop. I do notice while driving when I brake you can hear a 'whoosh' sound like air is leaking somewhere, but it just doesn't make any sense. I am definately not comfortable driving this way. I don't think many would be.
Again, I assure you I've bled the brake system correctly. Just can't figure out whats going on. Please advise.

If you bled the system correctly it's most likely your master cylinder.

Why would my master cylinder just decide to take a dump. I mean the car didn't run for over a year and just sat there. Only time I took it off was to replace the brake booster. I did have to disconnect the hardlines to it. Is it possible to try to bleed the master cylinder? Not sure cuz my dad's buddy whose been a mechanic for years used to work on these things all the time at the dealer, and he mentioned something about bleeding the master cylinder.
