27735, Need advice.... Posted by CustomGS, Aug-10-05 06:00 AM
As some of you may know from a prior post, I blew my rear shocks on my full coilovers. I have a couple shows coming up that require long drives. Right now its like driving on a trampoline and very annoying. I dont want to buy a whole new set for $700+. Ive tried with a local store, Extreme PSI, And they said none of the companies they deal with will sell just the rears. I emailed a co. online, Elementmotorsport.com, And they responded with this...
We can get you rear Ksport full coilover kits. They are $500 + $39 shipping. You can call us at 480-966-9044
Thank You,

That seems a little high for just the rears when i can get a full set of NEX for like $650. Not to mention I've never heard of Ksport Full coilovers.( anybody?? ). I do not want to go with a SLEEVE coilover. And i dont want to go with a Shock/Spring combo because i need the height adjustment for the fact that i'm anal with stance and i'm always changing bumpers. What would you guys do? TIA

I cant find a # for NEX themselves and the one store i checked with that sold them said they wont split them. I wish i could find a way to get a hold of NEX. And i bought them used( dumb )powdercoated blue from a kid on EBay. They rode excellent until i hit the massive dip in the road and blew them.
What about buying a shock/spring combo for the rear and leaving my coilovers on the front. I really only need to adjust the height in the front. Would that be a " cheaper" solution if i cant find a co.that is willing to sell just the rear full coilovers?

I happen to have a set of brand new rear tokico springs. I only needed the fronts when I bought the set. They have never been mounted. They drop about 1.5". If you want them Ill let you have them for 75 shipped.

nex has an internal bump stop to prevent it from destroying the valving due to potholes are you sure the shock is blown and not something else??
you might also be able to just revalve them.

No, i'm not 100% positive that they are blown, they certainly feel that way, and all impact is now taken by the springs. you can actually press on my trunk up and down and almost get my car to jump. What does Revalving them involve? Cheap?
BTW, i really appreciate all your help so far man!
Pitchblack- Thanks, i'll keep that in mind, but i would need to find shocks as well and i also dont know if it would be a good idea to go with that Tokico set up in the rear and a full coilover in the front. :shrug

well you might have just destroyed the valving in there which regulates how the shocks send their fluid from one side of the plunger to the other.
But call that number I gave you, that should be the number for golden apple (maxspeed) or whatever the company is that makes the nex coilovers.
