Ok so a week ago when I installed my springs my buddy was trying to get the nut off the mounting plate of my rear strut. Well he decides to go ape shit on it with the impact gun just spinning and spinning the shaft.. Ok its off, it should be alright I guess though it didnt look to healthy. Next we go to put it back on.. DAMN IT, the nut wont torque down, ok lets take some pliers and try holding the shaft so it doesnt move.. Nope! Shaft is all scraped up ok is it going to be ok? voice chimes in from the background "dude thats going to break your seal now, and its going to oozz real bad" and im like.. please dont tell me that. Anyway we got it all together rode great until like 2 days ago. Are my struts blown my ass goes in the air and I dont kno where I am going to land. Co-worker of mine says lets take a look.. Pushs on the back of the car once and the car goes up and down like 5 times. WTF! So my question is the stuff I had done to remove and install the new springs. Could that have been why I blew the struts so fast, or should I have expected this from a 2" drop.

Stock struts will blow very quickly when you put an extreme drop on them. Sometimes they will last a few months sometimes only days.

My factory struts blew 2 hours after I lowered mine 2" on Sprint springs. Any dip in the road that compresses a factory strut thats already pretty much compressed as far as its going to go it gonna blow. Get some Tokico HP blues. They are reasonably priced and give a very nice ride. I got a complete set of 4 off of ebay for 125 shipped for my car. Used of course, but in great shape.

Yes its blown, and yes thats the reason. Or at least from doing that and then hitting a big bump.

There is no doubt they are blown. I can push on it and it will rebound like 5 times. I curious as to if how I installed it could have blown it.

Installing it like you did wouldnt have anything to do with it blowin out. the strut prolly bottomed out and messed up the valving for the piston inside of the strut cause it to not control the suspension anymore.

Can Tokico HPs really handle a 2" Drop? I may consider looking into that. I was going to go with Illuminas, but recently I am just tired of all the money I keep spending on my car.

as i responded in an earlier thread, i have tokico blues with 1.75 inch rear drop and 2inch front drop, two years later being my daily driver havent had a problem with them.

The scraped up shaft will tear the seal on it's way down during compression. That is why it blew, most likely.
