27547, can u bleed brakes at caliper hose?

Ok heres my prob.Put on diffrent caliper on driver side and went to bleed ..the screw broke.Tryed bleeding at hose at caliper but no brakes. still air in system.Do i need a caliper with good bleeder screw or just doing it wrong.im just bleeding the side w newer caliper.Im doing the pump till firm then bleed method.thanks!
