Scheduled to be delivered today!

One set of 16x8 3rd gen RX-7 rims, silver, w/ tire, $450 plus shipping.

Was told one pair of tires had about 50% tread, the other pair had 95% tread. $75 shipping. Not a bad deal at all. Wonder if my stock centercaps will fit in them?

The 16 inch centercaps MIGHT fit, but the 14 inch ones don't.

$450 is a very good deal with tires, and the shipping cost wasn't bad either.

What size tires are on them? If you have 205's or 215's then you should be OK without a spacer, if you have 225's you're going to need a 1/8th inch spacer (which is 3.18mm). I've had no rubbing at all and no problems with that sized spacer and 225 tires.

Get new lug nuts too, I doubt the stock ones will work. Any chrome plated cone shaped lug from any rim shop should do, they can help you find the right ones.

I've got the stock GS 16's... Will those lugs work? I'm poretty sur they're coned at the bottom. Just called my parent's and was told that one of the tires is pretty shot. You think the 205's i've got on my stockers will fit them?

NOPE!! you do not need spacers with 225 width tires. I have 225/50 16's on my car with no problems at all.

I'm not sure if the lug nuts from the 16 inch rims will work or not (I've got RS 14 inch rims), but any good rim shop should be able to tell you if they are compatible if you go and ask them.

As for the 205 tire fitting on the RX-7 rim? Yea they'll fit since it's a 16 inch tire going on a 16 inch rim, and actually if you put the 205's on the RX-7 rims and that was the only change you made, the handling will be better because the wider rim (8 inches) will support the tire better than the stock ones (which are 6 inches wide). A tip I got from an old racer: try to get the rim as wide as possible compared to the tread of the tire, and actually get a rim which is WIDER than the tread if possible! This will be the most stable configuration.

And as for not needing the spacer with 225's, that depends on the offset of the rims Fast420A. The RX-7 rims have a +50mm offset, stock offset is +46mm so a 1/8th inch spacer (which is 3.2mm) will bring the offset back to stock (well, close enough) and a 225 tire is about as wide as you can go with a stock offset of +46mm.

It might be possible to use the RX-7 rims with 225 tires and get no rubbing, but it WILL be close and I can't be sure if it will or will not rub without the spacer.

I just got them on.. I tried a 1/8th spacer and it wasn't enough.. The hub was popping the centercap off and the tire was rubbing. I went back and got the 1/4" spacer and they fit fine. The stock lugs worked as well, but not perfectly.. They'll do for now. Pics soon... gotta wait until they turn the power back on in my apartments. I put 205/55/R16's on the back (they were the ones on my front, almost brand new) and 225/50/R16's on the front. I spun it up to 4grand and dumped it, barely a chirp and i was GONE. i'm in love!

ill go check them out some time this week just let me get my car put back together. =)

The hub will pop off the centercap for the front, sorry I forgot to tell you that it slipped my mind there. It's no big deal to have the center cap off (other than it doesn't look very nice)

And, I find it interesting the 1/8 inch spacers wern't enough. I guess there are some slight size differences in the 225/50R16 tires you have compared to the ones I have which are causing them to rub.

The 1/4 inch still shouldn't give you any problems as long as you can get enough full turns out of the lug nuts (I don't remember how many are enough, but any good shop should know)

I don't think that'll be much of a problem. If you've ever seen the stock GS lugs, they're pretty long and tapered at one end. I was watching the guy put them on, he finger tightened them 5 or 6 turns, then hit 'em with the impact wrench for maybe another two turns. They'll be fine... and i love having the 225's on the front! TRACTION!! ahhahahahahah ..
