I've been wanting a 2g eclipse since they came out, and now that I have the money, I'm finally putting it on the road! Unforetunately though, the previous owner put neuspeed coilovers on the car, and it's way too low to drive in Vermont's shotty roads. The coilovers are on stock struts, so I was looking into getting new struts while keeping the same springs. I have been looking at kyb agx struts w/adj dampering, has anyone used these before?

One of my friends has some good mechanic knowledge and is going to be helping me, since my closest experience is rebuilding an ATV engine and such. Is there anything I should know before doing this?

Also, if the reason for the car's lowering is the springs, will changing the struts even help?

I will be purchasing these and putting them in tomorrow if time provides.

usually it is the springs that would lower the car if you want to raise the car you can put some stock springs on or buy some aftermarket springs that are larger than the ones you have.

Any good brands you would recommend? I'm still looking for performance, just not being 1" off the ground, as right now is it lowered more then most lowering kits even go.

EDIT: Or even better yet, some kind of spacer to raise the car while keeping the coilovers, need to save some money after putting this on the road.

just get Eibach Pro-kits, they are popular for a very good reason!! I love them!

get tein s-tech spring (only $180 shipped thru ebay) and get some kyb agx struts, you cant go wrong. your suspension will ride sweet as hell and it will be adjustable (your dampening that it) for all about 500 bucks or so, you simply cant go wrong.

and just to note, i used agx struts with apex-i springs last year before i switched to a full adjustble coilover from tein and my ride like that was great and the tein springs are better then the aprx-i's.

also again, something to put into thought wuold be to get a fully adjustable coilover kit like i did since my roads suck too, i got tein super street's for like $899 or something but you cant tein basics for like $599 shipped off of ebay and those ride super ass smooth... something just to put into your field to play with, i dunno.

I thought the Tein S-Techs sucked. Barely lowered the car (looked stock) and the ride was worse than my Pro-Kits (perfect lowering).

Blues + Pro-Kits I always recommend.

I'm looking somewhere around $400 or lower for right now. I'll worry about good mods later, just need to make it drivable right now.

yea definitely get your suspension done right. I just ordered springs and I should have waited until I had enough for a full tein coilover suspension system. Now I am looking for just tein struts, and no one wants to sell them alone. :(

I second that! I love mine, get the Eibach Pro-kit's now, keep the stock shocks for the time being while you save some money up then get some tokico HP's or save a little more and get the adjustables, either way, it's a good set-up and it won't kill your wallet. beleive me, you don't want cheap crappy springs or shocks, trust me on that one.

I don't see any way to adjust it, must just be springs, my bad.

I think I'm going to save up some more and avoid drop-off parking lots and stuff until I can afford pro-kits (maybe 1" drop at most), and some decent adjustable struts. I need to be careful though, because as of now, the bottom of it is getting mashed up pretty bad. I'll take some pics later if I get a chance. Maybe a good way to make people think before dropping their car 3+".
