2708, should i get a RRE front lower tie bar ? Posted by Talon, Jun-08-01 04:36 AM
i want a little more than a 1inch drop. nothing too much cause i decided i want a sleeper as much as possible so not alot of drop. i have heard alot of guys scraping these bars...should i get it or not. i am not paying 79 bucks for a bar that i am gonna scrap and possible break off or something. let me know what ya think. also what front upper strut bar is the best to get so that there is clearance to take off the oil cap? is there any or do you have to take off the bar everytime you change your oil? as far as a rear lower tie bar goes is that a good idea and should i still get a tsi rear sway bar if i get the rear lower tie bar?
thanks for all the help

Personally, I wouldn't get it if I were you. I had mine on for about 3 days and scraped the hell out of it. I am also lowered 1.5 inches. I don't want to risk damaging the body/frame of the car so I sold it. It's great to have if you go autocross racing where you know you won't hit anything. It's up to you though.

I am curious what you guys are scraping it up on? I did not think it would be that big of a problem.

I have prokit and the RRE bar and personally I would leave it on. It saved my Greddy downpipe.

LAST EDITED ON 09-Jun-01 AT 05:10 PM (PST)Hey guys, i dont think its the bar so much as the road conditions in general(obviously). I have the RRE bar and have never scraped on speedbumps or uneven road. the only time i hit it was not missing the absurdly large crater in the road while changing a CD. I think if your roads are generaly good, go for it. If not, then don't. The bar makes a differance and i like mine, but i may not if my roads where shitty and i was leaving gray powdercoat streaks on the road... = ) BTW, i have the sportline kit with a 1.5ish drop. No problems.

With the Pro-Kits I would think its really safe to have that bar on. I would only have seoncd thoughts if the road conditions are extremely bad. If you look at it, it doesn't really hang down that low. The front bumper on our cars tends to be lower or almost the same height as the bar...I guess it really does depend on where you drive. In LA, there's no probs as we don't really have huge hills, and our roads don't have big holes everywhere...
