26987, Replacing stock wheel lock key..
Posted by Shockeclipse, Apr-23-05 01:10 PM
I just got lugs for my new wheels and I got the back ones on and went to work on the front and the inner part of the stock wheel lock key fell out. It has little teeth around it and so does the inside of the key but I can't get it to stay tight in there. I was wondering where the hell could I go and get a new one? Would Autozone have one? Or would I have to go to satan for one??

i believe wheels lock keys are special to each set. If you absolutely cannot find anyone and do not want to pay out of your butt to find them, there are wheel lock removal tools. basically it is like a socket that you hammer on to the lock then airgun it off. that might be pretty spendy to pick up so you might have a local tire shop do it. Then just get a new set of locks

My wheel lock key did the same thing and I couldnt get mine off. What I did just to get them off was like up the flower shaped part on the lug nut then slide the rest of the socket part over it. Then I hit it with a 2 lb sledge hammer. Not very hard just hard enough try to get the key to grab it. Then turn it and hope it takes them off. I got all 4 of mine off that way then just put regular lug nuts on them.

If that doesnt work try what ^^^ said.

Satan won't even give you one.

You have to mail order them through McGard, and you have to have the original ordering card to reorder them.

If you don't have the card, you have to call them and provide proof of ownership.

Dude I went to the local stealership and picked up a key for my car for like 15 or 20 bux. You should try them unless you are not going to re-use the locks, then just freeze them with freon or something that gets as cold as freon, then put a flat blade screwdriver on the end and whack it with a hammer. It should split in two, but if you do not have the clearence inside the lug hole, then you'll have to get a hold of one of those lock remover things ^^^^ was talking about.
