what is that little rubber ring for on only one of the caliper bolts on the GSX calipers? one of mine (new) is torn... what the hell is it for?

They're floating calipers, am I correct? If so, I believe it's to help keep vibration noize down.
I left them off of my lincoln and it would make these clunking sounds occasionaly from them not being there.

I'm not sure what it is for, keeping mud and stuff out maybe? But I have that rubber ring on both of my caliper bolts, on both front brakes.

im pretty sure it's for keeping crap out. the bolts you're talking about actually guide the caliper as it compresses. i imagine getting crap inside there would be a bad thing as the caliper wouldn't move as freely. and i have 4 rubber 'boots'. 2 per caliper on my front GSX calipers.

get new ones right away before you trash the calipers. It takes 20 minutes to take them out, regrease them, and put new boots on.
