So springs coming... and I'm planning on selling the eclipse. But first, I was thinking of lowering it. I have 2" lowering springs. What process do I need to take to lower it. Will I need to buy new shocks? camber kit? (i have 214/45/17's)

I'm pretty much asking, will I be ok just swapping springs?

and I plan on doing it myself, any info on changing springs myself? (never done it before)

your gonna need spring compressors. You can rent them from autozone for 40 bucks and they refund it when you return em. get the compressors that attach to the outside of the spring to compress them. You don't NEED new shocks but with that drop the stock ones wont last too long. You'll need a camber kit as well. Its going to be a big drop so be careful when you go out driving as your gonna scrape a lot. Let me know if you have any more Q's

Edit: but if your gonna sell it and dont care if the person's tires are gonna wear out quick on the insides skip the camber kit and shox.

you don't really have to bother with the compressors. i've taken my suspension out and put it back in over a dozen times and never used one...just aim the top of the strut at the ground as you unscrew the top nut so that if it shoots off it wont damage anything. mine has never shot off though.

Be Safe, rent or buy a spring compressor. When dealing with aftermarket lowering springs, the overall length is less so that a compressor is usually not needed assembling the aftermarket spring/strut combo.

i also say get the compressors...i jus bought a pair for like $15...but i do alot of suspensions. Better safe then sorry, cuz if one of them fuckers flies off they can do alot of damage to you, or something else they hit.

The front swap will prolly take you like 3 hours or so your first time...maybe more. The rear, maybe 30 mins, since the whole assemble is held in with one bolt...aside from all the three on each side, up top.

how easy/hard is it to do yourself?

What kind of tools (0ther than the spring compressor) would be needed?

that is the dumbest advise I think I ever read to give someone who has never done it before.

Just buy some spring compressors like bucknutty said there like 15 bucks I think I paid 20 or something like that but what ever , the stock springs have alot of tension you don't want pushing on the plate when you hit the last thread. And its easy to drop it yourself, I dropped 1.5 inches with coilovers and springs and didn't put the camber kit on right away, but the stance looked gay from behind so I put it on. / \ <--- thats what my tires looked like and would have worn fast. It took me about an hour and no air tools. You will also need to cut down your bump stops to make up for the shorter spring. (They are the rubber stoppers on the shock piston) I split mine in half. I used new tokico blues and added a washer to aid in keeping the shaft below the the old stop bushing see pic .
another hint ...wd-40 everything the day before you want to take everything apart it made for an easy time and little effort to break everything loose.
