25901, Couple of questions

Hey I have a couple questions I was wondering if you could help me out with.

1) I am about to replace my braking system (brembo rotors, good pads) I wanted to change my drums also. I notice that brembo makes a complete drum assembly. How do I take off the old assembly? And also is it just as simple as taking off the old one and putting the new one on and connecting the lines?

2) My car squeeks when I am turing at a slow speed and going over bumps. I called satan and they said that they had already replace my ball-joints and they cant do that again. So what else could the problem be?

I have the same squeeking problem so I hope someone can answer that. As far as the drum brake thing goes, why dont you just swap the drums out and do a rear disc conversion? I'm sure you can find the write-up for it really easy.

the squeeking is a ball joint probably, and just cause they replaced it doesnt mean it cant go bad again.

and who knows they might not have replaced it. just regreased it.

what he said...also, can you pin point where its coming from> it could be the spring rubbing on the perch or something else too...but most likely, ball joint...hell, could even be a bd bushing.

as for the brakes...its pretty self explanitory to take off the drum...only hard part is getting out the e-brake cable....which you need a special tool for, unless someone else has an "at home" method.

There is a piece inside the drums that is compressed, when you pull the e-brake it opens up against the inside walls of the drum, causing friction, thus causing you to stop. You need the tool to keep the piece compressed, otherwise it can, and will, shoot out and possibly hurt you. I am not sure how it works with discs, nor have i ever takin apart drums. So feel free to correct me if i am wrong.

I know this is a dumb question but which joint is the ball joint? The rear disc conversion is going to cost too much for my budget right now so I probably wont touch the drums at all.

the ball joint that i believe is the recalled one is on the lower control arm...that is the piece that connects to the bottom of the suspension fork...and then back to the frame of the car. The ball joint itself is connected to the hub...if you are looking at the hub, its on the bottom in the center, behind the brake disc shield thingy. Jus look for the piece attatched to the bottom of the suspension fork and follow it back.
