What do you guys think about the GR-2's? They are pretty cheap on Howell and im gonna be doing suspension work now. Will they be able to handle Eibach Sportlines? Pro kit? I would go with Tokico Illuminas, but my $6.25 an hour job wont allow it, and im wanting to get these for christmas, and my parents wont pay that much for a gift. So the price on the KYB GR-2's is perfect, my parents will buy me those and i can put my money in springs and strut bars.

on another suspension note, does anyone have the front and/or rear DC sports Carbon steel strut bars? do you like them? are they good? looking at getting those.

oh yeah i searched and got nothing, and i looked in the things we've seen before forum.

They will work pretty good w/ the prokits, they will be like crap on sportlines. I have them on tein s tech and they are very comfortable.

will i get a big handleing improvement with the GR-2 with pro kit? im basically looking for a pretty good improvement on handleing, and being able to trust my car at high speeds. do you think that set up will give me what i want, along with the front and rear strut bars?

are you on 14" stockerswith 5" of rubber? a 60 series?


No you'll still handle like shit. lol your tire will fold over faster than your suspension can do anything. especially at high speeds.

Strut bars will help no doubt, but your only downfall here will be tire/rims.

iF your rolling large you'll be fine.

well im a GS(as the name states lol) so ive got 16's. actually i wanted to make sure, so i went down and measured it, and from rim edge to rim edge it was 17". is that what its measured from or not? anyways, its not big, but better then 14's. im running Dunlop SP Sport A2 tires. i think there pretty decent, although they wear faster then i wish :shrug im not looking to whip around the corners at 200mph, i just want to feel confident that my car can make a curve on the highway at 100mph. im going to college next year, and its 6 hours(for the normal driver) on a 4 lane highway in the middle of nowhere. it should be fun!! so i just want to have confidence in my suspension at those speeds, which now i dont, i feel like every little bump in the road will make my car fly off, and i want to have some better handleing at lower speeds.

will the KYB GR-2's with Eibach Pro kits give me what im looking for? along with the bars?

also, anyone with opinions about the DC sports front and rear carbon steel bars?

ok cool. then like I said you should be good to go.

Strut bars are strut bars....really. some are thicker and whatnot but no variables will be noticalbe. If you want put the rear one on first. then after a couple days put the front one on. You'll feel the front most def.

Sway bars arre where it's at for serious handling improvement.

i have the stocker 14s on my car still and some crappy goodyear tires that i bought the car with, when i first had it i was scared taking some fast cornors, but i added front and rear sway bars and eibach pro-kit, and it does make a HUGE difference, to me at least. my tires freak out though, i know someday they are just going to give. so with the 16s you have itll do even more good for you. and its always good to do away with the lift kit and get some eibachs

well my budget doesnt allow for sway bars at the moment. if i can make enough to get those too by the end of the year, i will, but at the beginning of the year i gotta start putting 90% of my paycheck in the bank for college spending money. its a little deal i made with my parents so i could spend all the money i make now. how hard are swaybars to install? thanks.

Sway bars are more of a pain if you don't have hoist.

search the topic "swaybar install" and you should find a writeup for sure.

I have the KYB GR-2's with H&R springs and i think they are just a slight upgrade to the oem.

truthfully I do not think the Gr-2 are what I would run with lowering springs. They are good OEM replacements when you blow out your stock struts. I believe they are slightly stiffer than stock.

I say wait and go with something like Illuminas, or the HPs. Unles you can afford GABS or Teins.
