hey guys first off i wanna say hi again to a lot of you. I first started posting questions on this board last summer when i had a lot of free time to mess with my car. Then school started and i kinda drifted from it all. But summer is here again and im back to MODDING MY 2GNT! hehe....anyway my question goes something like this.....
I just bought coilovers cuz my lowering springs suck.
However, i bought them used, and they came without (yes, without) directions. I think i kinda got it all but a lot of things dont seem to make sense. First of all, the springs are really small in comparison?! The dust sleeve cannot fit inside the spring? Is that normal? Second, the thing came with 24 threaded allan screws 12 quarter inch size (it appears) and 12 eighth inch size (it appears). What are these small ones for? Third, the allan screws are supposed to go through the threaded perch into the the holes in the strut right? Why arent they long enough?? and Fourth, there is a aluminum top for the springs but then, where does the rubber bumper stop go?? I know this post was long and im sorry guys bt this is really annoying. If you guys know of a website that posts directions for coilvers that would be great. I guess telling you that they are Matrix coilovers might help. ( i know, bad mistake huh..should have went with weapon r or ground control but im a broke college student)Also, the woman i bought them from said they were for an eclipse, but they did not come in the original box so.....yeah....sucks to be me......

well the matrix may be bad, but weapon r is no better. the only good cheap ones are GC, skunk and maxspeed. go to www.vfaq.com for the full install instructions. you dont need to use the dust caps, and the allen screws are in different sizes so you can find ones that are teh right length and wont stick out of the holes in the collar. coilovers with allen screws for mounts suck. sorry

The dust caps aren't a necessity?? We just made them fit when installing the maxspeeds.

The dust boots are not needed and cannot fit with Skunk2's. Of course it might be better to have it, but there is no way to fit it in a lot of coilovers since the diameter of the spring is smaller than the diameter of the boot...

what about the rubber bumper stop that went on the top coil of the spring which made the metal top (the one with the 3 prongs) fit flush? do we need that? or the rubber that goes in between the metal and the dust sleeve?

I think I used EVERYTHING except the dust boot. Also, I cut the yellow bumpstop in half. The metal cap goes on top of the springs, and then all the rubber stuff (except the bumpstop) should go above that, at least with skunk2's. Hope that helps...
