Okay, I have to raise my car now because of the widebody kit now. I am using KYB AGX struts that are obviously good struts and adjustable. I wanted to get a nice set of coilovers that ride decent and not super ass rough. I was going to go with a full dampner tein setup but I am not trying to spend a shitload of money here. Alot of people on the board here say ANY coilover rides like shit and super rough to where you can feel EVERY bump. The local shop by me keeps telling to get skunk2 coilovers and he says that would ride pretty smooth with the AGX's. I was wondering if anyone uses the skunk2 coilovers and how the ride is with them or any advice or anything. And please dont tell me to go with the full adjustable setup because I dont have the money for that. Thanks!

if you are going to spend your money on coilovers, do the smart thing and buy true coilovers. ie.....tein, jic.

theres a big price diffrence there ...

Don't even ask about ride quality and collared perch coilovers. You just get no ride quality whatsoever. Go over a bump, and the spring unseats, makes an enormous bang when the car settles. Not to mention that you will lose fillings and pee blood every time you hit a pothole. I would use a stock suspension before a sleeve coilover, with the only possible exception being ground control with a helper spring.

249 for a skunk setup doesnt count the cost of the agx shocks. once you add in the price of the shocks, you might as well just go with tein.

i already have the shocks though. i have had them for well over a year.

i still think you should go with a tein or jic setup but since you are deadset on the skunk2's, just go with them.

if you arent willing to spend 700 for tein coilovers, dont even think about jic. its a lot more money.

i talked to a couple of guys on the board here who use ground control coilovers and they said the ride quality isnt that bad. they said they somewhat rough riding but they said when they put the agx settings on the front to 1 and the rears on 3 that they ride somewhat smooth actually.

i think i just might try the ground controls since i havent heard that bad on them.

one guy said he used skunk2's and he said they were bouncy junk.

i have been searching around for some springs to use that barely lower the car instead of going with coilovers.

i have found that the eibach prokit only drops the front and rear 1.2".

this may actually work.
im gonna put the stock suspension back on and see how far i can actually go down.

any comments on some springs that dont lower too much.

The eibach prokit are pretty good, a friend of mine has them on his otherwise stock suspension. It rides pretty smooth and has a nice drop but still not a big drop.

i have kyb agx and skunk 2's and my car handles like a fuckin beast from hell

only coilovers with a higher spring rate are the ground controls at fronts at about 650 in/lb, skunks being 600's and coilovers like teins or jic's being the highest

"ride quality" is a bunch of bullshit if you ask me. my car is stiff as fuck, and i like it like that....it boxes everything around on the road like theyre driving schoolbuses

edit: you're going to need to remove the perch on the shock in order to get a good drop with the skunks's

hmm well coilovers aren't all they're cracked up to be, everytime you adjust the height you have to get the wheels aligned because the camber has changed, you gotta make sure they're all the same height. If I were to do it again I would just get some nice stiff single rate springs. I will admit though the skunks2s are some nice race springs they're very stiff I get very little body roll. With the agxs I can switch from a smooth ride to a bumpy ride in a twist. There's the thing about the AGXs being too long also so you can't slam your car all the way or else they'll bottom out a lot. personally I don't mind feeling every bump in the road, I don't mind giving up comfort for performance^_^

im not going to be slammed. i will only be lowering close to an inch because i need to raise it an inch cuz of the widebody and the springs i had dropped 2 inches and i need to be at one now. the only time i am going to actually slam it, is at shows when its not moving, lol. i guess im set on buying skunk2's then now with the agx's that i already have. ive heard good things on these 2 setups, like ^^^ said, i could go from bumpy, to smooth, to stiff as fuck just by adjusting the struts.
