This happened to me in my 95 Talon Esi and it also happened about a year later to my friend's 96 Avenger ES. Both of us had them checked at the dealership at different dates and the dealer said the balljoints were fine.

Bottom line, replace em or this will happened to you. Even if the dealer wont, the parts are only around $80 total(2 arms with balljoints) and you get the added bonus of new bushings for your lower control arm.

Good Luck!

the dealer is not suppose to inspect them. IF they did not replace them then they are not doing what was instructed.

they inspected mine and won't change them. they just gave me a $800 coupon towards a new mitsubishi. yea right! I would call up that mitsu hotline but I just don't have the time to take in my car right now

went in for the recall dealer said they were fine, a month later I came back in when they were making creaking noises and got them replace for free

and they can just inspect them, they really dont have to replace them, but I wouldnt leave till they replaced them, I even marked my old ones so I knew they replaced them (I do that anytime I have to take the car to a stealership)

Marked one of my parents cars too and sure enough the firestone shop charged them over 700 bucks to replace a part and sure enough the mark was still there, boy did they kiss our asses after we went back in and started bitchin that the part was still there. needless to say I got free work done for over a year there just cause of that. Of course it was on a honda back in the day when I had a civic

now I do everything myself.

something makes a clicking noise sometimes when i turn left? could this be my balljoints? if so, what do i do, just go to a mitsu dealer and tell them to replace them because of the recall.

clicking while turning may be associated with cv shaft/joint. my beretta used to do that too.

yep im in the process of changing mine out too, I get really bad clicking when I turn.

Id also suggest anyone doing the work themselves to get the tie rod ends with the grease fittigs (I got them from advanced autoparts) much better than stock, plus you just regrease it when it gets low

before my dad gave me the car, when it was his the front end collapsed, both ball joints went out at the same time!!! Thank god he was backing up out of a parking space and not on the highway!!!

This was before the recall was issued... it was around 60k... I had my trans rebuilt at 154k and the trans guy said that one side of my suspension need immediate attention... so I brough it into a dealer for the recall notices i had been getting... sure enough it was the ball joints.

GET THEM CHECKED!!!!!!!!

Where did you find the parts for $80? I heard it was $80+ per control arm.

Am I wrong in assuming you are talking about the Curved Lower Control Arm, the Crush Member? If thats the case Id really like to know how you swung it on $80, hell I'd be glad to pay $80 each. I just got back from the dealer with a recipt for $504 for both those arms.

ok, those lower trailing 90* arms is what we are replacing right? when i let go of mine, they fall just a few inches from the floor. are they supposed to move up and down very much? what are the signs of them going bad. *searching*
