24663, Need new struts, what kind w/stock springs?...where to buy? Posted by Jerm23, Jul-07-04 02:38 PM
I've been having this loud noise when I go over bumps on back passenger side. I took my car in for a coolant flush/fill at a local shop and had them look at it. They said I need to replace the following and recommend I do it on both sides: (pricing includes labor) Sway bar links: $79.95 each Struts: $124.95 each Strut Mounts $59.95 each
They said I only needed to replace the strut mount on the passenger side, but it's still $469.75 total. I've read that it's pretty easy to change a strut so I'm going to do it myself. What strut should I use with stock springs (I have prokit springs but my car was too low so I took them off...anyone want to buy them?) Also anyone know where I can get all of this online? I'm assuming I still buy the stock sway bar links & strut mount. Any place to get them besides the stealership?

I wonder if dampening rate of stock shocks would match an aftermarket one. I'd suggest either getting them all change or atleast 2. or get an oem either from junkyard or dealer. Replacing a single shock with an aftermarket one(monroe, agx, koni's etc) might result in undesireable handeling.

Well if I got aftermarket shocks I going to get all 4, probably change the back 2 one weekend and the front 2 the next weekend. Or I was thinking about just changing the back 2 with stock ones. I was thinking about getting the Tokico HP's off of ebay for $220. Will these work okay with stock springs?
