Is this supposed to move maybe an 1" up and down. It is the banana shaped 1. Not the mostly straight one.

Are you asking if it moves 1" up & down while it is in static position with the full weight of the car on it? If so, then no. You have a bad bushing or ball joint. Replace.

thanx the wheels where off at the time I noticed it so I will check with wheels on. Is this covered under the recall?

so basically it shouldn't move at all or very little if wheels are on and car is sitting on ground.

New compression arms do move quite a bit in the up/down direction. Make sure there is almost no play in the back/forward direction (relative to the position of the bushing on the frame).
