I know it may be a dumb question, but what are shocks, and what are struts...Are struts part of a shock system? I dunno, thanks for the help guys. Mike

Struts have the springs go around them and shocks aren't inside the springs. Right?

Yep. They both do the same thing but in different ways. The struts are directly linked to the springs, where a shock links to a control arm and the spring goes in a different spot. The only advntage I like about shocks, it's a damn easy change, no spring compressors needed nothing. just a wrench and a jack. Otherwise and for suspension set ups I prefer a strut spring set up.
