23600, Shift knob Posted by coppereclipse95, Apr-20-04 10:37 AM
I know I might be rice, but I went out and bought a cf shift knob. I just wanted to change the stock look. After putting it on, I noticed it felt a lot lighter and felt like I can shift better/quicker. The only thing I didn't like is the knob I bought is pretty long. Is this just me? Or does lighter shift knob make a difference? Just curious...

I have the Greddy super heavy shift knob. Talk about a difference. That thing is like a trailer ball hitch. It weighs almost a pound. I barely have to use any effort to shift gears, which makes it GREAT for shortened shifters. A longer shifter will require less energy because it's basically a long lever. If you shorten it, it requires more energy to move. If you weight the end you're trying to move, then you give it more potential energy, which means you'll have to use less kinetic energy to get it moving. Plus you can take it off, put it in a sock, and beat the bejeezus out of someone with it...if need be.

Heavy is good right? I guess I need to try a heavier one out. Can you guys show me pics of yours? Because all the pepboys, autozone are pretty crappy. Any link/store suggestions?
