23393, Bumpstop HELP!
Posted by stevesquick92, Apr-07-04 08:41 PM
I just had Tokico Illumina's and Eibach Prokits along with Energy Suspensions Polyurethane bushing master kit and Ingalls front/rear camber kits installed. Well... I got all the old stuff back and I noticed that they didn't install the bumpstops on any of the shocks and struts. Will this be okay? I'm assuming the bump stop is the yellow thing on the shocks/struts right?

You should be alright as long as you dont hit any major pot holes. Thier mostly there to give your shock more room to travel without bottoming out. I would recommend putting them back on, but dont worry about it too much. I rode coilovers without bumpstops for 8 months but finally blew a strut. Just keep a heads up for any big holes.

You should probably cut them in half (I'm assuming the car is lowered a good deal) then reinstall them, so you have some protection with the bumpstops but you don't bottom out with them whem drivng around on regular streets.

I'll have to do that soon I guess. I would have done the shocks/struts myself... but I had the Energy Suspension Master Kit installed and said they might as well install them too. Guess I'll just work on my own car from now on!

Good plan. I always do. It's better to know it's done right (well, it's also fun and a learning experience too), and if it's screwed up then you know who to blame, that guy in the mirror :)
