would putting tiens springs(-1.4F -1.2R) on stock struts cause a problem?

i dont wanna blow a strut at 80mph hitting a pothole or anything, ya know...

LOL, blowing them is usually gradual but relatively quick enough for you to notice and at only 80 you won't lose control of your car.
I've seen one blow over the course of a day, gas and oil will sometimes leak from the top, anyway a slight drop (1") and same pressure springs (like progress) and you will be ok. The early progress springs were only like 125-150 and 175, they are ok, My friends lasted for 3 years on 2.5" drop on stock shocks and progress springs. It's the extra spring pressure that destroys the shocks, the shock dampening it too week to deal with the spring rebound and tears them apart so a smaller amount of presure (125"lb-150"lb) and you should be ok.

some nice trivia, my 1st ground control set were 800"lb in the font and 650" rear for full race from a Galant, the current set is 600 and 450, and is perfect with the 5 way illuminas

Yeah Skrilla is right, you should be fine. Mine lasted for about ayear with the eibachs. The other issue you need to consider is how old the shocks are, mine were 100,000 mi and were probably getting ready to go anyhow. When they go you will notice your car bounces a few more times when driving on the highway.
