22529, Correct tire psi... Posted by honcal98rs, Feb-19-04 09:59 AM I have 225/40/18. I have the front tires set at 40 psi and the rear tires set at 32 psi. The max psi is 44 psi. So, what I would like to know is if I have them set right? If not, what is the ideal psi for the front and rear tires? 22532, RE: Correct tire psi... Posted by CODE4, Feb-19-04 10:57 AM OEM is 32 front and 29 rear. As long as you do not max the tire capability you are safe, however you may get uneven tire wear if they are too high/low. Higher PSI will get you a rougher ride and maxing the rears out will aid in oversteer as traction decreases as you harden the tire. I have 205/50/16 and I run them at 34 and 34 and I do not have unusal tire wear. I think anywhere above OE is fine, but if you get them up there then keep an eye on tire wear. All depends on the ride quality you want.

22538, RE: Correct tire psi... Posted by VX100, Feb-19-04 02:59 PM For the street, except for some extreme setup like 19 inch rims, 32 psi front and rear should be ok. When you're racing, you'll want more psi, (and different pressures front and rear can affect your understeer), but 32 psi for driving around is a good round numbe. If you notice uneven wear (too much inthe center or the edges) that you know you'll have to adjust the pressure appropriately.
