2219, HELP! Rear Swaybar touching exhuast piping!
Posted by HadesOmega, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
I installed a rear swaybar from a TSi today, boy it was easy, just getting under the car was the hard part. Anyway I realized that part of the bar is touching the Exhuast piping. The bar is steel but it's under pressure and gets really hot in one spot. I painted it with engine enamel but it's only good up to 500 degrees and I see the paint melting already. I'm afraid it might warp the bar or something. Is there something I can put in between or should I move my exhuast piping up a little so it doesn't touch. It's like touching kind of hard like you can't bend it so it doesn't touch. Oh yeah the piping in that area was rerouted so I can use a performance muffler that has an inlet in the center instead of the side like the stock muffler so that's why it's touching.

On another note the car doesn't seen to handle extrememly better but launches are better, and there is a lot more oversteer because I can do U turns good now :) and I did a left foot brake and the cars tail started sliding!
