Can you have a rear sway bar and a lower tie bar installed at the same time? If you can what will the difference be between having it and not having it with aftermarket sway bars?

you can have a lower tie/strut bar in addition to a factory rear sway bar or an aftermarket one. The Rear sway bar helps keep the body from leaning excessively in turns. The lower tie bar will aid in keeping the rear suspension geometry from changing too much when articulating so any movement is isolated to the spring & strut assembly where it belongs. A lower tie bar in addition to a rear upper strut bar helps stiffen the rear up considerably since DSMs are not full frame vehicles.

Just did mine yesterday. Added a GS swaybar and finally put on my hurricane gs rear lower tie bar. I like em. :thumbsup Videotaped the process too so I'll make some kinda writeup at some point.

yeah when it comes time to spend some dough on suspension components I was planning on buying the GS/GST rear lower control arms and then getting the Suspension techniques front & rear combo package for DSMs and bolt those up. Then a front upper, rear upper and lower as well as a interior strut bar to stiffen the ride out considerably =]

Yeah,l and don't forget that the sway bar and strut bar don't even mount to the same spots, so yes, it's definately doable. I'mm getting my rear set-up in the spring.

I personally don't like to deal with ebay so we got the Suspension Techniques front and rear sway bars from www.modacar.com (I believe that is the url). They had the set for cheaper than any other place I saw (not checking ebay). If you don't have a rear sway bar you will need to get additional parts from the mistu. dealer (SATAN!), or from a parts car. And as for the Strut tower bars and lower tie bar, pretty much any place that you feel comfortable dealing with because they are all around the same prices and the brand doesn't much matter imo.

If I were you I'd just get everything from modacar cause then they can ship everything together.

RMDSM makes a more solid product, as far as sway bars are concerned. I would recommend Road Race Engineering for the lower tie bars. RMDSM sways are badass, and so are the RRE tie bars.

We were thinking about the RRE sway bars, but I had heard that the front one was too stiff and created understeer so we got the ST bars because they are adjustable in the front.
