well my friend lowered his car and it looks goood so i asked him what springs he had and he said he just cut them. his friend has a shop and they cut a couple coils or something off them and it dropped it about 2". the ride felt like stock pretty much and wasnt bouncy at all. ive been looking into lowering springs but dont know if i want a 1" or 2" drop so im planning on getting my cut by the same person to about 2". after i get the feel for it im getting eibach springs. here is my questions tho, i need a camber kit, front and back correct? and can i adjust them myself or pretty much anyone? there are no good shops around here for things like that. he was running stock shocks too but i dont want mine to blow on me so i should invest in shocks as well before i do this shouldnt i? my plans at the moment are a 2" drop roughly and tokico shocks, HPs. any advice?

do not cut your springs, its not a good idea.

and when u put the eibach on, install aftermarket struts at the same time. itll kill two birds with one stone. it is a good idea to get a front and rear camber kit if u drop your car 2 inches because your tires will wear like a mo-fo without em. dont forget an alignment

Riding on cut springs is dangerous. Don't do it, and yes the ride quality will be significantly worse.

have you seen that old 4 door accord around auburn with the big aluminum spoiler? that thing has to have cut springs, it bounces sooo bad

RE: cutting springs to lower them.. Is the worst thing you can do to your suspension period.

Yeah, heh heh, it bounces worse than when I had Sportlines w/ my blown OEM shocks.

thats what i thought too but neither of my friends cars bounce at all and ride like stock actually. i just dont know how low of a drop to go. im getting tokico's HP struts and either tokico springs or sportlines now.

It's probably fine because he hasn't blown the shocks yet.

Cutting springs = rice boy's drop imo... JUST SAY NO.

Hmm... i could see cutting springs on a car with NO aftermarket, but an eclipse? WHY! Theres so many diff options out there, but ifyou want to try cutting ill sell you the stock springs off my eclipse (gettin it next week) i just have to put them on for inspection, then im putting the lowering springs back on and ill never need the stockers again... Only cut them if you have the original springs to put back on when you realize how bad it is...

seriously don't do it. specially if you're buying struts. struts absorb bounce from your springs. if you cut them they'll have to absorb more bounce because the springs aren't pushing hard enough and they'll wear out extremely quickly. just do the job right the first time since you plan on doing it anyway. being lowered isn't so important that it's worth the risks and bullshit that will occur when you cut your springs.

yah ive decided not to go that way and will be ordering springs or coil overs and of course camber correction. just gotta find a shop around here that does that type of thing.

Why not do it yourself? Its really easy and strait forward imo... after you figure out that you have to take the bolt that is holding the strut in at the bottom all the way out and you don't have to mess with the sway bar endlink, then its all good:7
