21428, problem with coilovers, help Posted by blckeclipse95, Dec-09-03 08:10 AM
well i installed some erospeed coilovers on my 95 rs eclipse. this was my first time working with suspension. but i got them on to where they work. the back seem to be good, but the front is making noises. everytime i hit a bump or a dip in the road at a high speed (even sometimes at low speeds) it sounds like the coilover compress all the way, and make a loud thub sound i guess. people ask me if i bottom out but i dont. iam pretty sure cause my bumper would have fallen off by now. i havent really been able to take them off and look at them again, but i thought i would post and see if this has happen to one of yall. thanks guys.
ps. i havent really lowed the car because of this, iam afraid if i do it will does this more. that and i cant because i will hit on my driveway.

I would pop the hood and push the car up and down to see if you can recreate the noise. Also look to see that your strut towers are not moving when you bounce the car. If they are you could have forgot to install a bushing on the strut or somthing. It could also be your upper control arm hitting the body, but thats not likely if your not really low.

well i did what you said, even stood on my engine to bounce it and it would not make the noise. the strut towers dont seem to be moving, they move a little but not alot. looked at the control arms and it doesnt look like it has been hitting. you think i some other coilovers?what do you think?

I don't know man.....I put my coilovers on this weekend. I was driving to work this morning and was hearing similar sounds. I believe it's my A-arm that is hitting the inner fender, but I also noticed the "hat" on top of the springs was pushed down into the spring, so I have to tear mine apart and figure it out. My coilovers are not adjusted down either, but my A-arms seem really really close to the innerfender. Lemme know if you figure it out !
