My friend and I installed my Tein SS coilovers last night. I got them for $900 shipped off ebay brand new. $900 is a decent price for them, and they are worth every penny I paid for them. The ride is smooth, the car looks great, and most importantly they put the power down! Bye bye weight transfer! :D

I can't wait to goto the track with this bad boy. My Slicks should be arriving soon too. }(

What is the hieght adustability
Are they true coilover(ya know not slip over coils like my ground controls)
What are your possible shocks settings?
What can be adjusted? Dampening and/or rebound?

The SS coilovers come with the following

504 lb/in front springs
336 lb/in rear springs
16-way adjustable damper
Adjustable spring rate +- 112lb/in
Ride height front -1.2" to -2.8"
Ride height rear -0.6" to -2.4"

The SS coilovers do not come with the upper pillow mount.

There are Tein Flex coilovers that do come with the upper pillow mount. Specs are ...

559 lb/in front springs
336 lb/in rear springs
16-way adjustable damper
Adjustable spring rate front +224lb/in -112lb/in
Adjustable spring rate rear +- 112lb/in
Ride height front -0.9" to -2.9"
Ride height rear -0.6" to -2.5"

This one is compatible with the tein EDFC.

I haven't been able to decide between the two ... obviously the FLEX is more expensive but it's a bit better.

how does it perform when you hit holes and rough roads? can you REALLY feel the harsh bumps or does it feel like stock or better?

nothing like driving with the windows down and the music low: i love hearing the turbo spool, swwwhhhttt!!!!

jsupetran: You feel the bumps but it doesn't give you a harsh jolt. Besides there are 16 adjustable settings to dampen the load. This suspension set up is more than acceptable for those girl passengers. :-)

The uppper pillow mount is in development for the SS and will be available soon. The Flex benefits from higher spring rates and the upper pillow mount. The EDFC is more of a lazy man option. I say this because the higher models are not compatable with the EDFC like the Tein HA's.


The red line represents the amount of drop i have on the SS. The ride is still smooth and comfortable! Setting Front:11 Rear:14 STIFF! Two really tight figer gaps on all four wheel wells. If i'm able to make it out to a So-Cal meet i'll give you guys a test ride.

Yep the ride is soooooo nice. The car literally feels like my Z now! I couldn't stand the stock suspention on the eclipse after driving the Z for 4 months so I had to get these. When I first pulled it out of the garage to take it for a test drive I squaked the tires! Thier is no weight transfer at all and the car sticks to the road like glue. I have the front set at 10 and the rear at 12.

I don't have any pics yet, but I do have a video of me taking one of the struts and walking around like it was my unit. good times. Ill get some photos asap.

And oh yeah! Fedex just dropped off my slicks! wooo woooo! I'm getting ready for the shootout a *little* early this year. }(

If you really shop around you can get the SS Coilovers for $900-$1000. I see them all the time for $950 shipped. The FLEX Coilovers are quite a bit more and cost between $1200-$1300.

How big of an improvement are these over tokico illuminas/? I am not really concirned with ride height that much.

I have the Tein type flex's w/ EDFC...unfortunately I have yet to install the EDFC But she rides like a dream.

Yeah I paid $900 shipped, and it was worth every cent. Finnaly a dry day out today so I got to get on it a bit. Now when breaking or accerating the car stays flat, no weight transfer at all. I hit 90 on the freeway this morning, guess what No more vibration above 75 mph! And another thing, the car looks great. It's dropped about an inch, just enough to kill that nasty 2g wheel gap. I am so happy with this setup I recommend them to anyone. Mabye my stock stuff was really worn out, the car just felt like a boat to me. It's probably more to do with being used to the Z. If anyone is looking for them I got them from a seller on ebay name power-garage, they were $905 shipped and they sent them out the same day I sent the money out, thats a good price.

I can't wait to put on the slicks and turn the struts to 16 for some quarter mile action! }(

Yes what seller did you get those from... I am thinking about getting the Flex. What is the difference between the two. I am looking for something that will take my abuse. Taking corners fast, probley mild bumps no actual jumping but like SCCA style racing. I need a good suspension set up.

See my post up at the top that lists the differences between the FLEX and the SS. I will most likely get the SS. Its leaps and bounds better than anyother put together setup and I think it is very affordable for what you get at $900.

Thura Thanx for the information. I think someday I'll go with the Tein Flex and remote system.
