20948, rotor differences between gs and gsx? Posted by siueclipse, Nov-06-03 04:44 PM
Are the rotors any different from a GS compared to a GSX? Ive found some rotors for a good price, but it says they are for a GSX. I can't imagine what could be different.
Thanx James

GSX are way larger. In order to use them you must also have the GSX calipers/caliper brackets/brake pads.

RS/GS/GST = 10" rotors up front w/ single piston calipers GSX = 10 3/4" rotors w/ dual piston calipers

will the GSX dual piston calipers and rotors fit in 15 inch rims? :shrug _________ 96 talon esi-t san clemente, ca

doubtful. remember GSX's came with at least 16's

yea i've seen how close the calipers come to the walls of the rims on a gsx too...
damnit, thanks though uber.

hmmm... 10" rotors fit under 14's (stock RS rims and calipers) 13" rotors fit under 17's (BAER big brake kit)
4" diff between rotor and rim? prolly depends a bit on the caliper shape, but you'd think a 10.75" (GSX) rotor would only need a 14.75" rim :shrug

I haven't actually tried putting a 14" wheel over a GSX brake upgrade, but I strongly doubt it would fit. You can't fit your pinky between the wheel and caliper using 16" wheels.
Anyways, do you really want 195/70 rubber trying to stop the car? :o

ya gsx calipers an rotors definately won't fit under 14's but he was askin about 15's.. i'm kinda curious since as i stated about, the stock RS/GS/GST 10" rotors and calipers fit under a 14" rim. the GSX rotor is only 10.75". with only a .75" increase in rotor diameter one would think that a 1" increase in rim diameter would be adequate and that they'd fit under a 15" rim...
with a BAER brake kit you upgrade to a 13" rotor (increase of 3" over stock RS/GS/GST rotor) and it only requires a 14" rim (again an inrease of 3" over 14" stock rims). only way to be sure would be to actually try it though..
