k so i've been getting some shuddering when braking so i took my car in today to get the brakes checked out. front rotors are slightly warped an just need to be turned. the rears are pretty messed up though. i have an RS so i've got drums. the pistons inside were leaking and the whole rear basically needs an overhaul (shoes are at about 10% too). now the shop quoted me $400ish to do the rear overhaul - which's a tad pricey. even the people at the shop said they were gonna double check with their supplier b/c they didn't know why some've the parts were running for so much.

anyways do you guys think i should just toss the drums and convert to discs? i've currenty got GSX calipers and AEM 12.5" xdrilled/slotted rotors up front. should i just go for an OEM disc conversion? i know everyone's gonna tell me to just go to the junkyard but i live on a rock . the junkyards here suck. no DSM's.

now does anyone know if allmitsubishi.com still sells the conversion kit for $250? the posts where i read about getting it from them was back in 2001... if they don't any other suggestions?

also if i can't get the parts all together should i not even bother w/ stock rotors an just order some matching AEM 11.5" rears? they're about $250 for just the rotors and relocation brackets though.. hmmm

anyways just lookin for suggestions on which route to go. car still works an still has awhile left to go on the drums but i need to start gathering parts an whatnot

I would go with the AEM rear conversion first...OEM discs as your other option. 4-wheel discs look so much sweeter on our car, plus I'm sure you know how much easier discs are to service!! Good luck to you!

OEM disks, *if* you are able to actually remove the drum from the hub that it's now firmly rusted to. :)

hmm so any suggestions on where to gather up parts? i guess i'll try callin that allmitsubishi.com place tomorrow..

disk....the conversion was easy...although i didnt use the disk ebrake cable...so i did some altering to the drum cable to make it work...it works, just doesnt engage as fast....

thanks for the adivce guys but i decided to just replace the parts for the drums myself... new shoes an wheel cylinders was like $50ish at checker's. lots cheaper than gathering disc parts and way cheaper than wherever the shop was getting their quotes. just gotta bring the drum in to get resurfaced (along with my front rotors). i kinda like havin drums in the rear actually. plus it's lighter.

haha might as well put on the SS lines for the rear while i'm at it too. the shop didn't put 'em on with the fronts b/c i think they didn't know you had to remove the hard line goin to the drums (if you've got discs in the back it's a direct replacement for the rubber line).

if i'm just replacing the cylinders in back do i only gotta bleed the rears after? or do i hafta do all four?
