20824, Just got an alignment and wheel balance and car still shakes at speed

I just got an alignment and my wheels balanced and my car still shakes at high speed.

My brembo rotors must be warped because I get mad vibration when braking. Will warped rotors cause the car to vibrate (harsh) at speeds around 80-90?

Did you get a 4 wheel alignment or 2 wheel?

Which brings me to my next question.

I'm a college student who doesn't have a lot of money right now, how should I redo my brakes so the rotors won't warp (I've also noticed stress cracks in the dimples on the brembo rotors)? What would be cheaper/better, a gsx brake setup with slotted/x-drilled rotors, or an aem big rotor kit for the stock calipers?

I don't want to get some rotors that will look funny with my rear slotted/x-drilled ones.

Quality rotors as a replacement will work. If you have "brembo" rotors right now and they're warped and cracked, i'd be willing to step out and say that you don't really have brembo equipment.

On stock brake parts, i would warp rotors before i ran out of pad. I went through it twice - new stock rotors, new pads - 10-12 months later i would have plenty of pad left, and two warped front rotors. Usually warped so bad i couldn't turn them.

When i finally gave up on stock brake stuff, i bought Brembo slotted and x-drilled rotors complemented with KVR carbon/kevlar pads. All told it cost me $400. Here i am two years later, still the same rotors, half the pads left. My only complaint is that the carbon/kevlar pads don't grab on cold rotors - i have to be careful leaving my apartment complex in the mornings. More than a few minutes drive time they grab, the car stops likes its on stock stuff, and i don't worry.

24 months currently with no sign of stopping > 12 months tops on stock brake parts.

Well how would I know if I'm getting actually brembo rotors? They came in brembo boxes.

Would bad shocks/struts cause the car to shake at high speed?? Maybe feathered tires??

you can look at the rotors and see if they have hot spots. thats usualy a good indication off warped rotors. i had a car with a warped rotor that felt like the wheel was coming off if i hit the brakes and shook at speed without the brakes. you can also look for worn tires but with the alignment they should have told you if it was out off camber. a bad strut will allow the wheel to jump up and down but id look into the brakes. cross drilling and slotting is good to releave stress but reduces surface to pad area. good rotors and semi metallic pads SHOULD last up to two years.

I just got brand new illumina's my rotors were warped before that. I was with the tech as we put the whole suspension into alignment (I have ingalls camber kits on front and back), and I saw that the wheels were zero balanced.

I'm thinking on getting some slotted brembo rotors from cox import on www.groupbuycenter.com, the "brembo" ones that are on my car right now are slotted and dimpled, and the dimples have ever so slight stress cracks here and there, so I'm pretty sure they are warped to shit (I even had them turned before).

Hopefully I can reuse my EBC greenstuff pads that are in their now.

You could have a not or flat spot on a tire too. I had that problem, got new tires and the problem went away.

I checked all of my tires when it was on a lift, no knots. Tires are Yokohama ES100's w/ only 6k on them.

you will know when you have brembo rotors when they arent cross drilled, just dimpled and when they stop warping!:thumbsup haha im on brembos and they havent warped yet and i have rear drums...

You're warping your rotors because you're overtightening your lugnuts. This is more common of a problem than you might realize. This is also more likely than not actually having brembo's, because overtightening will warp the best rotors. It's just less common that you'll warp aftermarket rotors this way vs. stockers because they are higher quality and have higher tolerances.

My rotors are dimpled not x-drilled, sorry for the typo.

That's intresting ^^^, I never knew overtorqued lugs could warp rotors.

I torque them to 95 lbs, what should they be at?

when you put on you Tokiko's did you replace the bushings??????i'm having the same problem, not that bad but you can notice it arond 75-80. i wouldn't worry to much, as far as brakes go, use regular brembo rotors, not all that fancy crap. unless you are doing some serious auto-cross you don't need them they are just for show (might be you goal)

Replace which bushings?

I do auto-x my car.
