I get a single "clank" (engaging type metalic sound) when I start to roll forwards or backwards after the car has been sitting for a while. It seems to be coming from the left front wheel area. So usualy happens when I back out of the garage to go to work and when I start to drive out of the work parking lot to go home. What could it be? I had the ball joint recall done over a year ago too. Nothing looks out of place, no strange fluids or just crud, and the left front wheel has no play either.

I had the same problem a few months ago. I also had the recall work done on my car in 2002. I took it back to satan (I'm still under warranty), and they told me the joint needed lubricant. The seals weren't bad, so they simply lubed the joint and set me on my way. That was this past May (2003), and I haven't had any problems since. Hope this helps!!
