Ok peeps, I havent read much in the handling forum, but I would really like everybodys input on what to get. Im ready to buy coilovers or springs. But I wanted to do some research and get some opinions.

Are Springs Better than Coilovers? VisVersa?
Whats better for racing/handling.
Coilovers only good for lowering your car, or do they hold under the pressure of autocrossing?
What do you have, Your opinion, Like it or hate it.

Im in the vote for H&R race springs :) Whatever you get Brice I'll help you install them anytime. Damn coilovers suck IMO though. :)...of couse that was after only one install on seans car. Mabey he just had bad ones ;)

the absolute best is the true coilover system, but they are close to $1000 if not more. It really all depends on what you want and how much you are willing to spend. I have Skunk2 coilovers and I am happy with them (See link below for pics of car lowered). Most people hate them because they are kinda bouncey, but you can't have performance with out sacrificing ride quality, IMO. If you would be happy with a small drop, I would recommend Eibach Prokits! I have Tein type-flex with EDFC but i can't really give you any idea of ride quality yet because its been sittin in my driveway...these are expensive but I already love them from the short little test drive i took yesterday.

That Tein Coilover suspension that you have thats like the $1200 setup isnt it...Damn...lol I just wanted it alittle lower with some better handling..I didnt ask for a hole in my pocket lmao!:thumbsup
Thanks for all your advice..I have been looking at Tein springs on ebay..seeming they are the nicest ones on the net. Most are V2's cant find any quality springs or coilovers..I have just heard that Tein arent a great ride...


Lmao, Rode with a friend on mine, who just lowered his car with the help of Eclipserxr, and driving through town we hit this dip in the road, and his mudflaps hit the rise in the dip and *whack* yeah the car sits about 1 1/2" off the ground measuring from teh mudflaps. The V2's are actually a comfortable ride, but he needs to get shocks. I dont know, im still looking around. I droped mass money on a paintball gun so I wont be buying anything cool for awhile! ;( ;( ;(

. . . your horribly mistaken. Tein's offer superior comfort/performance over ALL spring/shock setups. I've taken rides in many cars equipped with Tein Coilovers and have not been dissappointed.

Look into Eibach Prokit Springs (1.3 inch) + Tokico Illuminas or Tokico HP's. This setup is a mild and fairly low cost suspension setup.

i have eibach sportline springs and my ride is smoother than it ever was, but of course i also have tokico gas shocks..:thumbsup eibachs ma man are the best IMO, but for heavens sake dont go with coilovers whatever you do, but if u do, go skunk2, nothing else because then your car will look like a honda when it hits a bump and will start bouncing up and down...:nono

My car doesn't bounce up and down when I hit a bump....

i don't have coilovers, i have lowering springs. from what i've read, coilovers, unless you get full coilovers like tein or tanabe, you really have stiff crappy ride quality. i'm pretty sure everyone that has ever had both on their car, lowering springs and coilovers, will tell you that the ride quality was 100% better with springs. coilovers are more for show. a giant disadvantage to coilovers is that any time you adjust them, you have to readjust your camber settings. if you don't adjust your camber settings then you won't have any tires left. i have goldline springs and tokico blue shocks and the ride quality is like stock. my girlfriend didn't even notice a difference. just take it to have it aligned once and you're set for a while. it handles very very well. i'm gonna have to put my vote in for lowering springs. FYI... if you ever want to see reviews from other dsmers about products for our cars then go to www.dsmreviews.com. i would say three most heavily reviewed springs are goldline, eibach, and h&r. i love my goldlines!

I have a set of ground control coil overs. The set set me back about $400.00. But I would definetely say that it was worth it. I left my stock struts on, and I love the ride quality I get. The only draw back is that you can only drop your ride about 1.75" with them, so if you want to be dodging speed bumbs, these are not for you. I have a perfect wheel gap, and I just clear speed bumps with my 18" rims.
I would recommend them, but of course a complete set of struts and coil overs is the best.
