LAST EDITED ON 25-Apr-01 AT 11:08 PM (PST)

Hey, my brakes are starting to squeal a bit. I'd like to replace the pads with something that will stop the car a little faster. RRE recommends the Porterfield Carbon/Kevlar Brake Pads R4-S, then there's the Metal Master Semi-Metallic Brake Pads which they say are "The best value for all around street performance.".

Anyone using either of these or anything else you might recommend (include price if possible).

PS. Steel braided brake lines, do they work pretty well to increase pedal feel and stiffness.

I have had the Metal Master for a while. They are better than stock, but after a while I got used to it and I want better pads now. Its decent, and lasts pretty long, and great for the price. I do get a lot of brake dust from the pads though. Go for the R4S if you want the best performance, but the Metal Master are the most economical.

I have the SS lines uninstalled. DeanoD has them and after I talked to him about the new pedal feel I order myself a set.

I'm oding the rear disc coversion soon so I am in the process of selection new pads and rotors. I think I'm going to get KVR cross drilled and slotted rotors, possibly Brembo rotors, if I can find them.

I think I'm either going with EBC Green stuff pads or another brand that I've heard outperformed the Metal Masters, Minitech A/F street pads. Both the minitech and EBC are in the same price range $70-$80 for 4 pads.

Anybody have experience with Minitch or EBC?
