19825, What size tires for a 17x7.5 rim? Posted by MajinVejitaXV, Sep-09-03 04:05 PM
I'm getting 17x7.5" rims, and was wondering what you guys use? Pics would be great also, so I can see what would look best...
Thanks, Corey

Ugh, wrong forum. Could a mod move this to the Suspension/Handling forum?
Thanks, Corey

to answer your question, I have 235/40/18 tires on my 18 x 7.5" rims. so on 17 x 7.5 I would say go with 225/45/17 or 235/45/17. just make sure your offset is right for the 235/45/17s. 225/45/17 should fit without a problem

Wierd but according to Discount Tire, if you have a 1995 RS go with 215/45-17 or 225/45-17. If you have a 1998 GS/RS go with 225/45-17 or 235/45-17. :wary

225/45/17 will keep your speedo the closest to correct too.

225 45 with all 17's 225 is the highest cross section you should put on a dsm.

225-45-17 is what I have. I wish I would have gotten something wider though. I had 16's with 50 width and they look fokin sweet. The 45's look good though, but definitley don't get 215's that is like NO tire. I'd think you would feel every little bump. That's just my opinion though.

I got 235. FWD does not do good with traction so a wider tire will help, plus it also makes teh sidewall a litle thicker and if i hit a curb, my rims will be fine. plus the 235's look sweet in imo

the point of low profile tires is that your sidewalls are thinner. 235's will crease in the middle of the sidewall. they're to wide. if they weren't to wide they wouldn't look fatter.
no matter what rim size you use 225's are as wide as you need. if you think the difference from 225 to 235 is going to enhance traction that much then you need to stop buying shitty tires. also if you're having that much traction issues then you prolly need to rethink your suspension rather then blame your tires. tires can be blaimed after your suspension is taken care of.
