19699, What Strut Bars to get Posted by jets2brazil, Sep-03-03 06:50 AM
I'm looking to pick up a pair of front and rear strut bars and I know there are a lot of them available from ebay, but I don't feel like getting stuck with something that is a pain to install or that isn't a decent product. I heard that there can possibly be problems with the battery getting in the way of the front strut bar depending on which strut bar it is and I'm not sure what problems could be involved with the installation of the rear strut bar. I would like to pick up a relatively cheap set of strut bars that are still a brand name. What would you guys recommend and was there any problems with your installations?
I searched through the posts on strut bars and saw a lot of you have the ebay ones, I'm just not sure if those would be the way to go and I wanted to find out what name brand ones people on the board are using.
Your input is appreciated,
-Todd :thumbsup

The e-bay strut bars are good for normal driving. If you want to autocross or something then i'd get expensive bars. To clear the battery just buy a bar made for the non-turbo cars. The turbo cars have there battery on the opposite side of ours..thats why sometimes there are issues with clearing it cuz people buy the turbo model strut bar. The rear bar isnt hard to install. All ya gotta do is tkae the plastic things off the top of the strut mounts. Then you can cut the piece to fit over the strut bar.

Just make sure you buy one that is designed for your engine (420a version) and doesn't cover your oil cap (4g63 version)

Here's mine. I got it from advanceimports.com and it fit perfect and it's heavy too. It was only like $40 and it's made for a 2gnt. I'll buy the rear one eventually.
