yo... here is the best explaination I can give.. if I take a curve (turning left) going at a decent speed my car feels like if you were what I call "movie driving" (when you take the steering wheel and go back and forth real short but real fast and the car kinda wobbles)... it doesnt do it when I am on a right curve, just the left.. I also think I found some brown grease or somethin coming out of my axle on my firewall... it seems to have sprayed out of that rubber boot thing on the axle.. then again, it may just be somethin else.. any help would be appreciated.. thanks..holla

cv joint? maybe?

It could also be your ball joint. I would think if you can feel a problem like this, you should be able to get the wheel to wobble a bit when putting some force on it with your hands. Try numerous angles and see if you can get the wheel(tire)to move.

Otherwise it is probably a CV axle like you suspect. Get under your car and twist the axle back and forth to see if there is any extra movement/loosness. You will get some movement where it goes into the transmission, but it should not be loose. If you can get it on a lift or put it on jackstands, this would definately help. It is much easier to see if parts move when weight is off the wheels.

I posted in advanced, b/c I figured no one in here could answer my problem.. I waited a few days.. anyways thanks for the reply man.. I put it on jack stands and I cant really find any odd movements anywhere by hand.. that "rubber boot thing" in the middle of the axle right beside the tranny is busted, I saw some cracks and I'm pretty sure that's where the brown grease/oil came from, it appears to be sprayed out of it in a circular motion.. do I replace the boot or the axle now? and how long before I need to do so, I mean I know its a prob so asap.. but I'd like to wait til next friday when I get paid before I do so, if not, I'll do it tomorrow (next friday I mean in 9 days) thanks in advance man.. peace

If you can feel a diference in the way the car drives already, get the whole shaft no question about it. CV joint failure at any speed is less than cool. If you had noticed the spooge before you felt anything you probably would have been safe with just doing the boot.

A good way to know for sure if your cv joint is bad is to do reverse doughnuts in a parking lot. turn to the right lock to load the left joint and turn all the way to the left to test the right one. Youre tires wont need to break loose so don't floor it, but if you can hear/feel clicking of popping you should replace the axle for sure.



Plus it gets all the ho's at jc penny riled up.
