19438, remove scratch on rims with a clear-coat Posted by onefastgs, Aug-12-03 02:43 PM
I took my car to get a nail out of the tire and they scratched my rimx(. Is there some thing I can use to take the scratch out of the rim? I was thinking of using a rim polish but I dont know if I can use it on rims with clear-coat on it. Is there some thing I can use or do to get the scratch out?

I got the same problem dude. I don't think that would help though, it seems like it would only clean the rim, but I dunno. I tried polishing compound on mine but it didn't help much.
Anyone else recommend anything?

If the rim itself is scratched, youd probably have to get them resurfaced and resealed. If its just the coat thats scratchd, try to find a place that can recoat it for you.

Or just have the shop that scratched them pay for a new rim. I used to work for Discount tire's and anytime one of my techs scratched a rim, we(the company) would have to pay for it.
