1924, Skunk2 - rear stock struts?

Okay, today I attempted to install my skunk2's on my rear stock struts. Well, I don't have my instructions anymore....boohoo. The rear stock struts are a bit thinner than the front struts. On the front struts, the coilovers sit on the the ridge that was formerly used for the stock perch. On the front I was able to knock off my perches and let the coilovers rest on the ridge which normally had my perch.

However, I am not sure if I am supposed to knock off the perches on the rears -- Because a problem arises. The coilover will slide all the way down the strut. My only option if I knock the perches off is to use these little rubber rings to hold it, and I don't feel particularly safe with these little rubber rings holding my whole suspension up.

If I choose to use the perch, the coilover rests too high, and the car can not be lowered noticably at all.

My question(s): Is there a way to knock off the perch, and let the coilover rest lower on the strut without allowing it to slide down?

I really want to use my stock struts, but is it possible? Do I HAVE to buy new struts? There has got to be a way to knock the perch off, but hold the coilovers up, please help. Thanks in advance.

~~Ryan

Hey, I had the same problem. All you have to do is use one of those thick steel rings with the lip inside. Do not just use the rubber to hold it on. Put one of those steel rings that has a lip inside so that the inner diameter of the ring is smaller, and that ring will rest on the three welds left over after you knock off the spring perch. Then the collar will rest on that ring. That should work ok hopefully.
