How does everyone feel about buying used shocks and springs? Is it better to fork out the extra money for new ones? Im looking at an Eibach/Tokico combo, or the Tokico spring and strut package. Also what does everyone think about pro-kit vs sportlines? thanks

If it were me, I would spend the extra money and know that my parts are new and should theoretically last for a while. As for the sportlines vs. prokits, I rode on the sportlines for six months and decided to ditch them for the prokits. The sportline ride is sorta harsh and the drop ends up being more than 1.6". I agree with him that new is the way to go. As for the sports vs pros, I would say neither and go with ground controls. I got the Illumnias with the ground controls and love it. BTW, I *think* anytime you lower your car you want to get a camber correction kit. Remember *think*.

Anytime you lower our cars, your camber WILL change. The more you drop, the more negative you will be.

The rear camber is always necessary for any drop on our cars. There's a $15 dollar camber mod for the back...do a search on that. Or you can spend some dollars on an Ingalls kit.

Prokits, you can get away with not getting a front, but it's still recommended to prolong the life of your tires.

With my Sportline drop, my fronts were -2 and the back was like -3 before any correction.

With an H&R OE Sport 1 inch drop, my front was -1.3 and i couldn't tell the back because I already had a back camber kit and it was within specs.

Get a frickin alignment after working on your suspension! If you don't straigten the toes out, you will run through your tires in a month or two.

as for used or new....get new if you have cash...buy used if your dirt poor. springs usually have a "lifetime" warranty but shocks do go out...so maybe used springs and new shocks imo.

right now i have used struts on the rear but that is only until i can get an extra $380 to spend on my new tokico illumina strut/spring kit. the used ones were free (well actually i spent a day helping the former owner pull an engine) but they seem to be working great so far

I bought a set of used H&Rs from a club member. I got them for $100 and he installed them for free (he owns a performance shop). I thought that was too good of a deal to turn down.

I'd feel more comfortable buying used springs then shocks. Springs you are able to inspect and you should be able to tell pretty easily if they're no good and worn. With shocks it's harder to tell what shape they're in. Just my 2 cents :)
