18798, Help with GSX conversion
Posted by darosa4561, Jul-08-03 05:37 AM
Ok i work at an autoparts store. I bought the calipers but now i cant buy the brakets. Went to dodge and they only sell them as one peice and for an insance amount of money. i called a junkyard today and they only sell the calipers with the brakets so basicly am i stuck buying cheap junkyard brakes to get the braket. its only like 75 bucks no big deal but still i hate buying parts that i dont need. Does anyone know where i can just get the caliper braket.

Why not try autozone.com? Check the sticky on top of this forum to check the web sites for the GSX conversion. Oh yeah, since u work at a car parts store and I'm actually gonna do the conversion too, I have a question for u. So the bracket doesn't come with the caliper? The old brackets won't match the GSX calipers? So what's loaded and unloaded mean in the websites?

Well loaded and unloaded means basicly if it comes with pads or not. thats it. So i always get unloaded cuz i dont want pads. I checked the stickey at the top of the page. im gonna try some websites. Also when i looked at the pic at my work it just showed the dual piston caliper with no braket so i think it comes with no braket. well ill find it in a couple of days. but till then i have to find these stupid brakets

is that $75 for both calipers & brackets? if so, that doesn't sound bad. You should buy them and resell on here. Hell, i may even have to buy them. I can't get them at any junkyards around here.

since you work at a auto store dont you guys accepttt calipers from stock cars, such as like a 'core' ? if so just buy the gsx caliper/bracket from the junk and do a core deal with the one you bought?? i know you can do this at kragen/pep boys.. if so its not a bad deal. i got my calipers/brackets etc etc all from the junkyard before and just had them rebuilt to be safe since it was old.
good luck

the thing is i can only get a core if i bought something. i just cant start bringing in calipers and getting 55 dollars for them. My bose already said he would except my Avener calipers for a core return and not the old GSX calipers(cuz thier are none LOL)
