yokohama avs intermediates
i found that they get about 20k miles each set, i've gone through 2 sets so far. they're very good for the money (they used to be about $100 each for 215/45-17, then tirerack was discontinuing them and i got a set for $67 each! woot!). too bad they're discontinued. dry traction is decent, cornering is very nice. wet traction blows. they are not the quietest tires on the market either. when they are worn, they are quite loud.

bridgestone potenza s-03's
my newest set of tires. so far i've put about 1500 miles on them. dry traction is much better than my old the yokohamas. wet traction is INSANELY better than my old yokohamas. i can boost in 2nd gear at 12 psi on wet roads and not spin them. i call that pretty dam good for tires on a open-differental front drive boosted car. cornering is almost identical to the yokohamas, not much of an improvement. they are a lot quieter than the yokohamas though. were they worth $169 a tire? yeah, i'd say that they were.

I love my Falken Azenis! Great dry traction and cornering. Just dont drive like a fool in the rain and you will be fine.

im going to second the potenzas. i had them as my last set of tires and LOVED them, they are sticky as hell. the downside is that they only lasted me about 30k miles, LOL. ive also heard good things about the azenis' from the neon crowd, and when you look at pics of them they have a LOT of surface area connecting with the ground. never tried them though so i cant comment on thier performence.

Yokohama AVS ES100's, no doubt, rated 4 outta 57 tires in the ultra high performace catagory on tirerack.com, and they are only.......$97 a piece.

I would recommend Nitto 450 NT's to anyone but serious racers. These tires wear VERY well and are quiet even at high speeds. They channel water away quite nicely. Overall, its a great tire for the dollar.

How about them new Neogen tires from Nitto...They say they wear out evenly even with negative camber...

Well I got my tires put on today and I have to say I am quit impressed on the difference in grip now to see how they do on the track this weekend.

I have some P245/45zr17 and they rub plus I have spacers you can barely put your pinky in-between the tire and arm thingy after the tenzo r springs were equipped

What size would be appropriate?

The apropriate size would be 215/45/17. You might be able to get away with 225/45/17's.
